THE WATER DAMAGE RESTORATION PROCESS
With every water damage restoration project we take on, we understand that both the home and the needs of the homeowner are unique. We know how important your home is to you and we’ll do exactly what is needed to get it back to its original condition as quickly as possible. In general, here is how our water damage restoration process works, though issues like location, severity of damage, water levels and more, all factor into our approach to each restoration project.
EXTRACTION AND REMOVAL OF EXCESS WATER
In an extreme water damage emergency that leaves standing water like flooding or significant plumbing leakage, we’ll need to remove the excess water from the home.
Water Damage Restoration Portland
After identifying and stopping the source of the water, we’ll extract the excess water from your home. We use truck mounted equipment and pumps to rapidly and thoroughly extract standing water.
DAMAGE EVALUATION, REMOVAL OF MATERIALS AND PROPERTY
The next step in the process is for us to evaluate the situation and determine what is and is not salvageable. In most cases we want to preserve and restore as much of your existing property and materials (like trim, drywall, flooring, cabinets, etc.) as possible. With our expertise in carpet and flooring, Pacific NW Restoration will make the best decision in consultation with you on how to deal with hard flooring, carpets, padding and sub-flooring. Water damage can be extensive and we’ll need to evaluate anything that it came into contact with, including furniture like sofas, chairs, tables, bookcases, and internal construction like studs and insulation. Once we’ve determined what can be salvaged and restored, and what needs to be replaced, we’ll begin removing materials so we can start the drying process.
DRYING AND DEHUMIDIFYING
We always want to begin the drying process as soon as possible. As you’re probably aware, mold is a common issue here in the Pacific Northwest, so the fast we can dry and dehumidify the affected areas, the better. Pacific NW Restoration uses the highest quality, professional grade drying and dehumidifying equipment from Dri-Eaz. Dri-Eaz equipment is both powerful and effective in drying and humidifying living and work spaces.
CLEANING, SANITIZING, DEODORIZING
While we’ve listed it here as the fourth part of the water damage restoration process, the reality is we start cleaning and sanitizing from the start, and cleaning and sanitization is an on-going part of water damage restoration. Removing water damaged and unsalvageable materials is the first step. After extensive drying, we begin to put back salvaged materials or install new materials. With carpeting, we give the padding and carpeting a deep clean with our steam driving carpet cleaning equipment. This fully removes dirt and grime, while sanitizing the carpet. We deodorize as needed so that your home looks and smells just like it did before the water damage occurred, maybe even better! With every job we do, we treat our customers’ homes with the highest respect and care, just like we’d treat our own homes. We know the stress and frustration of this type of loss, and we want you to be at ease with us, knowing the Pacific NW Restoration team respects your home and property.
